After a nervous (slippery!) first half, we showed strength, maturity and good character in our young guns to qualify for the next round.
Our first win at the Emirates will hopefully prove a major confidence boost for this season. AW was quoted as saying “"If we hadn't won tonight, people would have said that we cannot win at the new stadium… It's good to get it out of the way” and I couldn’t agree more. The Emirates will of course take some getting used to with its substantial extra width over Highbury, but now with a draw and a win under our belts – there can be no talk of our new home being unlucky. We all remember the disastrous effect when we decided to use Wembley as our home for the Champions League campaign a few years back, and all the stupid comments of how we wouldn’t be able to perform day-to-day away from Highbury.
If anything that’s twice we have come back from behind to win – that’s more than can be put down to the luck of the stadium – the lads created their own.
Ljungberg with the armband did us all proud putting in a strong performance and Walcott… J Oh man, when he came on with 10 minutes to go. The atmosphere… Vitally, again he sets up the late winner (twice in 5 days).
The future is looking ever more bright…
