Yes that’s right, in my opinion just as important as as the arrival of Gallas and Baptista (which is brilliant – to have an immediate replacement in someway for both, if even in the short term in the case of Gallas). I believe our less than ideal start to the season is in no small part due to the disruptive members of the team creating an unwelcome atmosphere of discontent. Hopefully this should help us get back on track for the season.
Reyes, I don’t blame. He found it difficult to settle into the English way of life and he wanted a move back to his native Spain (fair enough – best of luck to him). We all know what an expert eye AW has, and if he was so keen to sign Baptista back in 2000 then I have faith.
However, I cannot help but feel some resentment over Ashley Cole. We made him the player he is today, and this is how he repays us – by moving to our biggest rivals. Clearly were it not for his absolute desperation for a move, we would have at least made more money from him. Gallas had a buy out clause for about £4m next year so the total cost from Chelski’s perspective can be perceived as £9m (when he could have fetched well over £20m).
