Season 2006/2007

Following our lads through their first season at the Emirates Stadium

West Ham 1-0 Arsenal

A clear penalty in the second half for us was not given while the match was at a pinnacle point while it was 0-0 and overall the ref was awful, making silly decisions and stopping play too often. The Hammers made some good chances and I am sickened to say they deserved their goal. Their defence was solid and… hold on am I talking about the same team who have only just about got a win this season? A team fighting to stay out of the bottom three in the table?

Worryingly, we lacked the fluid play and brilliant form that we showed in midfield against CSKA. I felt a big hangover in terms of confidence especially in our final touch of attack. A win today would have helped put that 0-0 score line in the past. We can’t let more points slip and allow Chelsea and Man U to go further ahead of us… 10 point off the top now.

The clash of managers at end was just passion from the opposite end of both extremes. Ecstasy and frustration. Nothing more. I don’t think anything else should be made of it.  Something that should be looked into was the coin throw that hit Van Persie on the head – something we need to stamp out of football before it becomes an common occurance.

The only highlight in an otherwise disappointing match for me was the absolute thunderbolt by Toure that was only inches away. Hopefully we will see a few more of those in the near future.
