Season 2006/2007

Following our lads through their first season at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal 3-0 Liverpool

I wonder what the odds were for 3-0 against Liverpool with goal scorers Flamini, Toure and Gallas? I was so pleased to see Toure get a goal. He has been as solid as a rock at the back and its great to see him get forward and keep a cool head to finish. Almunia was our keeper for the day as Lehman was suffering from a throat infection.

The first half was a close battle with goals ruled out for us and them, but come the second half with a one goal lead in the bank (Flamini from a deft Fabregas pass), there was no way they were going to get back into it, as we played on with a performance full of self-belief.

It is so enjoyable to watch our team play once we have the confidence of a lead, if only we could replicate this confidence with a neutral score, it would make all the difference to our premiership campaign.

Then to wrap up the win, Gallas simply walked though a shambles of a Liverpool defence to nod home our third. The reaction by Gerrard and Riise was priceless – “Where were you…” “No, where were you?” Classic!

This win takes us up to third place, much more like it.
