Spurs got off to a big start which left them ending the first half 2-0 up, but our young guns showed huge character to pull us back to a 2-2 draw with the mouth-watering prospect of our home leg to come next week. Baptista who scored a calamitous own goal in the first half came back out for the second with the confidence of a natural born winner and scored both our goals. If he carries on playing this way, we may just have a real gem on our hands here. Arsene has always shown confidence in his ability, and although he has taken sometime to adjust to the pace of the premiership, the boy seems to be coming of age.
Almunia and Kolo had an awful mix-up which allowed Berbatov to direct in a simple header free of any challenge. Kolo seemed upset at a lack of incentive show by Almunia in making a call; perhaps this is the reason why 'Mad' Lens is our number one choice.
Our first goal came as a result of the 'Beast' brilliantly managing to keep his composure after playing a one-two with Walcott slipping over, but managing to scramble back to his feet and pass the ball past Robinson. A lesser player may have given up hope after falling to the ground but the shear desire he showed to get back to his feet and take the shot showed he was really giving it his all.
Finally Baptista ran forward to be in the right place at the right time to tap in Justin Hoyte's low centre from the right to give us the hopefully vital equaliser.
We could have gone on to win the match with Fabregas' header coming close and Walcott's effort narrowly going wide, but after the first half, we deserved to at least take a draw back to the Emirates for the second leg. The Spurs players looked dejected but we were buoyant after the final whistle so hopefully this will have an impact on both our performances in the second leg.
