Jeremie Aliadiere and Tomas Rosicky each grabbed a goal in extra time to see off Spurs and book our place in the Carling Cup final against Chelsea.
Our young guns thoroughly deserved the win after dominating position for almost the entire match and they played with the experience of a much older team. We took the lead late into the second half when Adebayor side-footed the ball into the net from Rosicky's pass.
Somehow Spurs got an equaliser in the 85th minute forcing the game into extra time after Mido headed in their first and only attempt. But in extra time we continued to dominate possession and sealed our 5-3 aggregate with two goals in extra time.
Can you believe this will now be our first League Cup final under Arsene Wenger?
Almost all the young guns played well especially Denilson, Abou Diaby and Traore but the introduction of Rosicky, Clichy and Fabregas bought that extra experience that gave us the composed play we needed in order to hold onto possession.
Walcott too played a decent game, but unfortunately he still couldn’t get his first goal for the full team before his substitution. Denilson came close to scoring a few times with his brilliant long ball shots but unfortunately no joy there either, although I wouldn’t bet against it being too long until he does find the back of the net.
Overall, this was a satisfying win that will hopefully result in a graduation ceremony (in the form of a winning final) against Chelsea and for many of this young team, the beginning of a long and successful career… for us!
