Thierry rescues a draw for us after Middlesbrough hold us to 1-1.
Senderos was red-carded for bringing down Yakubu, who scored from the spot. However, the tackle took place outside of the box and the linesman simply couldn’t be bothered to point that out to the Mike Riley, who pointed to the spot and whipped out his red card in the blink of an eye. Mad Jens, then got himself booked for protesting in the form of a little one-man Basketball – you’ve got to love it! However, throughout the match Lehmann did pull off some of his typically great saves, especially from Viduka to keep us in the match.
Fairplay to Boro though, they played well and looked a different team to the one we once put six past. They actually looked like they could go on to secure the upset, but in the 77th minute Thierry finished off a counter-attack with a shot across goal. We could have gone on to grab a late winner but Boro held firm and earned a draw.
Justin Hoyte played a good game, managing to keep control of Yakubu including robbing him of the ball at the last moment before he broke through and was surely set to score. Rosicky also played well, setting himself up to have a decent shot which went off just wide, but overall it was a disappointment to have to come from behind – yet again.
